Elon Musk will attend a political festival this weekend in Rome, which is being staged by the far-right party of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni as per an official on Wednesday.

In September, Musk, the owner of X, supported Meloni’s government in a dispute over Germany’s support of organisations that rescue migrants who have been shipwrecked in the Mediterranean, reported AFP.

Edi Rama, the prime minister of Albania, is also anticipated at the four-day Atreju festival in Rome, which begins on Thursday. Meloni and Rama recently reached an agreement for Rama to build two centres in his nation for migrants saved by the Italian coastguard.

The post-fascist Brothers of Italy party spokeswoman for Meloni, however, was unable to corroborate rumours that British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak would also be present. Downing Street did not want to respond.

As a member of a far-right youth organisation, Meloni contributed to the founding of the Atreju festival in 1998. Since then, it has grown to become a yearly gathering place for conservatives, while politicians from the centre-left have also attended.

In 2018, former Donald Trump adviser Steve Bannon went with the goal of establishing a right-wing movement throughout Europe; the following year, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban also made an appearance.
