Murder charges have been brought against a woman in connection with the premature death of her ten-year-old daughter.

The small girl’s lifeless body was found in their Rowley Regis, West Midlands, home.

Police arrived on the quiet cul-de-sac quickly and began looking into what may have happened to the child.

Meantime, a video of the little girl identified as Shay Kang surfaced. The footage captured the girl engaging in playful activities like piggy in the middle with friends.

Statements from neighbours and acquaintances offer a glimpse of the community’s shock and grief during the ongoing investigation. Shay was described as a “happy and wonderful kid” by others who knew her before the family relocated to Rowley Regis, which highlights the loss’s significant effect.

The court remanded Kaur in custody, scheduling a further hearing at Wolverhampton Crown Court. Meanwhile, the end-of-terrace house where the incident occurred remains cordoned off, adorned with growing tributes of flowers and soft toys in memory of the young victim.

A post-mortem examination is anticipated to shed light on the cause of Shay’s tragic demise. Detective Inspector Dan Jarratt of West Midlands Police urged privacy for the grieving family and the wider community, acknowledging the profound impact Shay’s death has had on those who knew her.

In the wake of the tragedy, Brickhouse Primary School, where Shay was a pupil, paid tribute to the ‘bright, happy, fun-loving child.’ The school has initiated support measures for students and staff affected by this devastating loss.
